Portfolio

This picture is quite neat as the two subjects are walking away from the camera across an interestingly shaped bridge. There is some symmetry in the picture as the two sides of the bridge are seen from this angle. In addition, the picture shows the motion of the two people walking.

This is a picture of a plant structure. It is quite pleasant to look at as it is created with an intriguing pattern. Most people will not have seen something like this before which makes it even more interesting.

This is an example of Reflection Photography. The best aspect of this image would definitely be the clarity of the image on the surface of the water. Many photos that are taken using reflection often sacrifice clarity since the reflective surface is usually not smooth. I was lucky that on this day, the water remained very still which helped me produce an image of this quality.

This picture was taken at the Armin Van Buuren Concert. The patterns created by the lasers were even more beautiful in person. I was able to time my shutter perfectly to get this amazing shot of the colorful lasers that were on show that night.

This picture was taken on my short trip to Las Vegas. It is the front of the Mirage Hotel. The water and greenery combine to make this look like a picture straight from a tropical rain forest, however, it is interesting to note that this is actually in a desert! Most of these structures are actually man-made.

This is a picture of a basketball hoop. You may have seen other pictures like these, as they are often used as motivational or empowering pictures. The message that this image portrays would be "Just Do It".

This picture is an example of framing. The bird is between two poles, and since the bird is right in the middle, it is the center of attention. Thankfully, my bird was cooperating with me during the taking of this picture!

I took this image of a white flower by using a combination of manually holding the camera close to the subject and digital zoom. The image has managed to stay clear even though it is quite a bit zoomed in. I chose to take a picture of this since the white flower contrasts the green plants that surround it.

This is a picture taken using Viewpoint; a composition technique. The angle at which the picture is taken plays a large part in the overall appearance of the image, including the silhouette-ish look of the trees against the sunset.

This is an example of Double Color Exposure. This is one of the most interesting things I learned about this year, as I previously did not know how to use Photoshop at all. Turns out, it was very simple to create an image that stands out like this!

This picture was taken on Lower Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford. There is a large depth of field here as both the foreground an background are clear. The scenery from this mountain was a sight to behold.

This is an example of Forced Perspective Photography.  I acquired a miniature monument of the Eiffel Tower and placed a toy dinosaur in front of it. After playing around with the angles, I was able to create an image that makes the dinosaur look the same size as the Eiffel Tower, which is a massive structure in real life.

This is another example of Framing. I took this picture on my trip to San Francisco. In fact, you may recognize that this is the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most famous bridges in the world! There is an ongoing trend of taking pictures of scenery through the gaps in fences, so that is what I attempted to accomplish here.

You guessed it, another picture from my trip to Vegas! This was taken from a pedestrian overpass at 11pm. Las Vegas is proven to be the brightest place on Earth, and you can really tell from this picture. The bright lights from the cars and the hotels in the night sky were the highlight of this trip.

This is an example of Conceptual Photography. The picture epitomizes the struggles that homeless people go through during the winter time. The frost on the ground gives the viewer an idea about the time of year, and the empty money container provides some insight into how little the person has to survive.

This is a picture of my dad, but more importantly, a picture using the background of the train tracks. In this picture, it seems as if the train tracks are never-ending; they seem to stretch into the horizon forever! The day was very nice outside and I convinced my dad to step onto the train tracks before a train actually started to come.

This is another example of Forced Perspective Photography.  I got my sister to hold out her hand and instructed my dad to move into a certain spot in the background. After numerous attempts, I was able to create a picture where it looks as if my dad has shrunk and is balancing on my sister's hand.

Although there are not many photographic techniques involved in the capturing of this photo, I really like it as it shows off what Vancouver has to offer. The massive structure on top of the water in the back makes it look like a touristic place. The subject was my uncle, who was actually a touring at the time.

This picture carries a message, thus it is Conceptual Photography. There exists a huge issue in today's world regarding the disconnect between the younger generation and the rest of the world. The problem stems from the overuse of technology, which is exemplified in the picture above. When the person should be sleeping at night, they happen to be on their iPad instead.

This is once again, another picture from Vegas. This is a picture from the Bellagio Hotel, and you can tell as there are the Bellagio fountains in the foreground. The lights from the Eiffel Tower, Planet Hollywood, and Paris Hotel illuminate the summer night sky which was a sight to see.

The photo I took of the dandelion is an example of Depth of Field Photography. I used aperture priority mode on my camera to create a shallow depth of field, and I enhanced it even more by blurring the background on photoshop. The dandelion is in the foreground, and a playground and a white van in the background which gives a sense to how big the dandelion is. Personally, this is my favorite style of photography as I love the effect of a blurred background!

This is another example of Depth of Field Photography. The background (trees, houses and sky) are blurred while the water fountain is crystal clear. There is not much meaning to the picture but I still admire the effect that the blurring has created.

Honestly, I love this picture because of the puppy! I was walking at Lighthouse Park to take other pictures for my photography assignments, but I came across this cute looking dog and snapped a quick shot of it... I mean, who doesn't love dogs?

Finally, this is a picture of my sister on a mural on a wall. Her dark clothes heavily contrast the bright colors on the wall, making the picture enjoyable to look at.
