Movie Poster Assignment

Reflecting on my work on the movie poster, I am very proud of how it came together at the end. I took the picture of the Inukshuk against a cloudy background, and I photographed the sky separately on a different day. I was able to use the gradient tool on Photoshop to merge them together, making them look like 1 image. I also used my camera to photograph some of my friends and cut their faces out using the quick select tool to make them part of the sky. I enhanced all of my pictures using the hue/saturation tool, giving the whole poster a more scary feel to it by decreasing highlights, increasing saturation and also increasing contrast.

PLOT

DENIS KOVALENKO is part of the Need for Adventure Club at Burnaby South Secondary School. During one of their field trips, he spots a massive structure in the horizon and decides to visit it with his friends. AVINAV DHAKAL, CHRISTOPHER SHANNON, JORDAN HUI, RYAN KIM, and MARLON BUCHANAN accompany Denis to the site, where they discover a tunnel at its base! Mystified, the group musters up the courage to follow the path awaiting them.

On their journey, they read many signs written it what appears to be an ancient language. Perplexed by the unique symbols, Jordan decides to decipher the code on his own... which proves to be extremely dangerous. By the time he cracks the code, his five friends are long gone.

As the rest of the group begins to separate, with each member taking on a different task to crack the code, a strange being seems to follow each one of them no matter where they go. The group does not know that they have in fact invaded this Spirits home... and they will pay the price. As they trudge further and further into the tunnel, the path behind every one of them suddenly shuts. The boys yell for help, and although they can hear one another within the tunnel, they have no more access to the outside world. They have been trapped.

The Spirit, which calls itself Prugaar,  summons itself in front of each of the boys and demands a sacrifice in order to be let out of the tunnel under the Inukshuk. The walls between the friends magically open and they begin to devise a plan to satisfy Prugaar's demands. As they get to work, Avinav notices an opening in one of the walls and squeezes through. What he does not realize is it was that very whole where the sacrifice was to be made... Avinav has sacrificed himself by accident.

Although Denis, Marlon, Jordan, Ryan, and Christopher are now free, they have lost their best friend, and even though they do not realize it, they have lost their sanity. Every Friday night, they are drawn back to the Inukshuk, where they lose one more person- until there are none of them left. INUKSHUK is a movie produced by Avinav Dhakal, made to spread awareness on the long-lasting effects of traumatic experiences that people may face in their life.
