Shutter Speed Assignment

Image
On these two photographs, I used a shutter speed of 1/40 and 1/1000, respectively. The picture taken with a 1/40 shutter speed shows plenty of blur as the subject was in motion. However, the picture with shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second is perfectly fine; it is frozen in time. When changing between shutter speeds I had to also adjust the aperture settings. Going from 1/40 to 1/1000 on the shutter speed dial caused my photo to become very dark so I decreased the f-stop number to compensate. The first picture is bright and has a shallower depth of field, but it is blurry. The second picture is perfectly clear the you can see the background clearly as well. However, the picture is a little darker as a result of the extremely fast shutter speed.

Magazine cover assignment

Image
This targeted audience for this magazine would be individuals or families who are planning on visiting Las Vegas for the first time. Inside it would include information such as activities for non-gamblers, places to eat, a calendar of upcoming shows/events, and the best hotels to stay in. The background photo of the magazine cover is of one of the most spectacular views on the Las Vegas strip; the Paris Hotel with the Bellagio Fountains in the foreground. This magazine is visually appealing as well as extremely informative, making it a great buy. Enjoy your trip to Las Vegas, and stay cool!

Aperture and Depth of Field Assignment 1

Image
I took 5 pictures of the same subject, but at 5 different f numbers. The pictures go from a small f number (at the top) to larger f numbers (at the bottom). I noticed that the smaller the f number, the less clearly I could see my subject. The pictures all look fairly similar, however the higher the f stop number, the more I could see in the picture (as in both foreground and background). I found that the larger f number gave me a better picture, however I understand this will vary depending on the light level of the setting.

Exposure Assignment

Image
As you can see, the picture at the very top is exposed correctly. You can clearly see the subject and the colours are not very grainy. In contrast, the second picture is definitely under exposed. There is a dark tonality in the photograph, and the subject is a little hard to see. Finally, the third picture is extremely OVER exposed. There is very low sharpness and the colours are not vibrant. The picture is very grainy and unclear.
